Frequently asked questions
Do I need a welder?
No. Castaloy, Alumaloy and Steelaloy all work with a standard hand-held propane torch. MAP gas helps on very thick parts.
Which rod do I need?
Castaloy for cast iron. Alumaloy for aluminum, pot metal and galvanized steel. Steelaloy for any grade of steel, stainless steel and copper.
Do I need flux?
Alumaloy is completely fluxless. Castaloy and Steelaloy use #7 Flux, which is included with our bundles.
How strong is the repair?
The repair bonds stronger than the original metal. Alumaloy repairs reach 39,000 PSI tensile strength.
